Gabriel Dupuy was born in 1941. He obtained a civil engineering degree from the "Ecole Centrale de Paris" and his PhD in Social Sciences from "La Sorbonne" University.
He headed the "Institut d’Urbanisme de Paris" (1976-1980). He then became Study director at the "Ecole Nationale des Pont et Chaussées" (Paris, 1981-1986). A few years later he was appointed Director of the "Cities" Interdisciplinary Research Program in CNRS (French National Science Institution).
Gabriel Dupuy has taught in Paris XII and Paris X universities. He is presently Professor of Urban Planning at Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne University and Director of a research unit in this University (CRIA : Center for Research on Networks, Industry and Spatial Planning) belonging to the UMR CNRS 8504.
