Dominique Riviere is professor of geography at the Paris University (ex_Diderot, Paris-VII), a member of the management direction staff of the Research Unit (UMR) Géographie-cités and co-director of the ADL Master’s Degree (« territorial planning and local development » / Aménagement et du développement local) in Paris-Diderot University. Her research concerns regional and European matters, especially Italy and the European Union, and more particularly the questions of urban and regional policies and territorial planning, territorial mobilizations, heritages policies, metropolitan peripheries, the articulations between cohesion and competitiveness in European and national policies, the interactions between the social and economic geography of Italy and institutional questions in general (regionalization, North-South issues, etc.). Her main focuses of study are Rome and Naples, with special attention to comparisons with France (Seine St-Denis, Paris).
