Bourse Européenne de Réintégration

Period: 2009-2011

European Reintegration Grant (ERG)

This Marie Curie ERG supports a CNRS project entitled "Maritime Systems" (2009-2011). It aims a better understanding of the network-territory interdependence through the case of maritime transport on various scales. On a global level, we wish to visualize the entire network of inter-port maritime connections, and to measure the
topological properties of this network. On a local level, we confront the connectivity of seaports as well as the intensity and nature of their traffic with the socio-economic characteristics of the adjacent cities and regions. Worldwide daily vessel movements are the main data covering various commodity types (e.g. containers, bulks, general cargo) and several decades from 1946 to 2010.
